| A group of students from Wartburg Seminary went door to door in East Dubuque asking people if they wanted to start having meetings about the Lutheran religion. The students found that there were a lot of Lutherans in East Dubuque and that they wanted to have meetings about the Lutheran religion. | |
| The East Dubuque citizens started a religion of Lutherans in East Dubuque in August of 1981. It was originally out on Highway 20 in a big garage. Then in July of 1983 they built a new church on Highway 35.The Lutheran church has approximately 30 families that belong to the church now. Some of these families are from Wisconsin and from Iowa. The Lutheran church is part of the ELCA, Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. | |
| The very first regular pastor was Pastor Everist, Pastor Ruffcorn, Pastor Horn, and then Pastor Everist returned. They have Sunday School for the children at 9:00 A.M. and their regular Worship Service is at 10:00A.M.The Lutherans believe that God rescues people from sins power through the life, death, and resurrection of Christ. God's sorrow is solely a gift of God's love and cannot be gotten by beliefs or deeds. This message of salvation is brought to you through faith. | |
