The Sisters of the Presentation were founded by Honora L'Nano Nagle in Cork Ireland. They came to the United States in 1874. Archbishop John  Hennessey  invited them. Sisters  Vincent Hennessey, Kaity Renidy,  Alice Howly, and Ellen Ahearene began a settlement in Dubuque to teach the children of Irish Immigrants.  They lived with the Visitation sisters until 1875. The sisters opened their  first  convent in 1909 in Key West. In 1909 Mother Benedict Murphy  moved the community  to Mt. Loretta on Rush St. Then in 1969 they moved to Carter Road and are still located there today.  In July of 2000, the 164 sisters celebrated their 125th birthday.
