| The University of Dubuque was founded by Adrian Van Vliet in 1852 for seminary students. The funds for the Main building were made through gifts from the Presbyterians. Severance Hall was funded by a banker from Elizabeth IL, by the name of C.O. Daniel. The McCormick Gymnasium was funded by Nettie McCormick in memory of Cyrus McCormick. Peters Commons was funded by a shoe maker from St. Louis, Missouri by the name of Frank H. Peters. Van Vilet Hall was funded by William C, Laube, Goldthorp Science Hall was funded by Frank Henry. | |
| The University of Dubuque finished construction of the Main Building in 1907. Later it was torn down and it was replaced by Blades Hall. Its part of the quad which includes Van Vliet, Severance, Alumni, and Blades Hall. Dubuque University has a 56 acre campus with three resident halls Aitchison, Cassat, and Donnel. | |
| The architectural part of the campus was from two people Edwin Lindsay from Davenport and Wayne Norman, as a Chair Member he was for building and renovation. | |
| The University through its Business, Liberal Arts, and Theology programs want to make men and women ready to serve God. | |
