Description of Program
| Staff: Each classroom is staffed by one
full-time certified teacher and one full-time certified aide. Children also
receive speech service on either an individual basis or group or both,
depending on the district and speech teachers available. A program coordinator works with all districts in providing referrals, screening, and monthly parent/child workshops for each site. |
Parent Responsibilities: In order for your
child to benefit the most from our program, certain activities are expected
of parents.
|
| Curriculum: The philosophy of the program is that children learn best by doing, experiencing varied kinds of activities on a daily basis. Emphasis is placed on social and emotional growth and language as well as on the areas of classification, seriation, number, space, time, music and movement, and emerging literacy skills. Children are encouraged to explore and investigate, to experiment and learn. Children are involved in activities which are appropriate for three-,four-, and five-year olds. Experiences are designed to be supportive of young children with an emphasis on building self-confidence in all parts of the school day. |
| Change of Address or Phone: If, during the school year, you change your address or phone number, please notify the teachers promptly. We need this information to ensure student safety. |
| Health Policies: Your child is required by
law to have up-to-date medical records and immunizations. Your child
must have a physical examination before starting preschool. It must be
completed and returned to the school district by the first day of preschool. If your child is showing signs of illness, please do not send him/her to school. Alert the teachers if your child has been exposed to a communicable disease. Also, keep the teachers informed of any changes in your child's health status and/or eating habits (for example, if your child develops an allergy.) |
| Fieldtrips: Field trips will be a part of your child's preschool experience. Parent participation is encouraged for trips, especially as chaperones. You will be asked to sign permission slips for fieldtrips. Please check your child's bookbag each day and return requests promptly. |
| Children will be permitted to leave school only with the parent or person authorized by the parent to pick up the child. In all cases, the parents shall send a note or call indicating whether they have authorized the school to discharge the child to any other person. |
| Absences: If your child is going to be absent from school, please inform the preschool teachers as soon as possible. The phone number is 747-2981 or 747-3117 ext. 3022. |
