 Dear Parents,

Welcome to second grade! I would like to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Kelly Bonnette. I graduated from Clarke College in Dubuque with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in Special Education and Reading. Two years ago I spent eight weeks working at East Dubuque Elementary with Mrs. Tina Sieverding in first grade. Furthermore, I spent the remainder of that year working in both the Dubuque Community School District and East Dubuque Elementary. Last school year, I had the privilege of teaching second grade here at East Dubuque Elementary. I am very much looking forward to getting to know and working with your children. We have many exciting things planned for this year and I feel honored to have the opportunity to be a part of it.

I am the mother of three boys, Alex age 15, Colten age 10, and Dominic age 8. My greatest passion in life is my children! The majority of my time is spent with them. I also love to read books, take long walks, and spend time outdoors.

It is my belief that young children come to school with an innate curiosity and natural gift to learn. Each child’s gift is precious and individual. This philosophy is foundational when contemplating how best to teach my students. It is my wish to motivate and empower their learning by utilizing their individual talents focusing on their strengths. By spotlighting these strengths and talents we appreciate and complement the child’s diversity. This builds self-confidence prompting the child to better learn. I look forward to getting to know your child!

If you have any questions feel free to call me at 815-747-3117 ext. 2219 or email me at kbonnette@edbqhs.org .
