Lyndal Anthony

Industry is in desperate need of skilled labor, whether it is machinists, welders, carpenters, plumbers or electricians.  This program offers the student the basics so the student can find out if this is something that may interest them for his/her future and if so, gives them the basic knowledge they can use to start a career and/or school at a running start.

Our intent here at EDHS is to give the student the very best education we possibly can.

    Seminar

The student will use this time to concentrate and receive help on his or her problem area's of study.

    Intro to Industrial Technology

The student will learn the basics of home repair stressing how important and necessary building codes are .

We will start with basic blueprint drawing.  At some time a person will usually need to make a simple drawing to communicate ideas to carpet salesmen, interior decorators, and building inspectors/contractors.

Then the student will learn the basics of framing a wall by actually framing a wall.  Next we will hang and finish (mud) drywall.  At this point the teacher will normally poke holes in the wall imitating common occurrences in a home situation allowing the student to practice patching holes in drywall.

Next the student will learn the basics of home wiring and maintenance.  The student will wire a simple light switch, outlet, and light circuit.  Next the student will wire a three way light circuit.

The student will finish learning the basics of home plumbing using various fittings and plumbing pipe.

    Internal Combustion Engines

The student will learn the basic principles of 2 & 4 cycle, and diesel engine operation, diagnostics, and basic brake and suspension principles.

    Basic Welding

The student will learn about basics about welding starting with oxy/acetylene welding/cutting, followed by Plasma Arc cutting.

Next will be SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) commonly referred to as stick welding.    Stick welding is an economical form of welding and versatile, although much more difficult to master. Once mastered, the other forms of welding are much easier.

Lastly the student will learn GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding) commonly referred to as MIG welding.  This method of welding uses a continuously fed wire as an electrode.  It is much easier to use and is becoming more common place in home garages.

    Advanced Welding/Metal Fabrication

The student will learn the basic principles of TIG (GTAW), sheet metal fabrication and basic machining principles.  The Student will TIG weld Aluminum and Stainless Steel, shape some sheet metal, and machine a project from cast iron castings and/or steel.

    Basic Woodworking

The student will learn about basic woodworking processes and joints.  The student will learn how wood changes and how the expansion/contraction of wood movement must be planned for.

    Advanced Woodworking

This class will begin with a section on CAD (computer aided Drafting).  The student will then learn the advanced theory of wood processes, woodworking joints, and project design.   The student will design and build a large project according to the student designed and drawn blueprint, incorporating different joints.

    Basic Home Tech

In this class the student will learn basic home repairs, such as how to replace light switches and fixtures, how to frame a wall, how to hang and repair drywall, and basic plumbing repairs.  The student will start the class learning basic pencil and paper drafting.  This will enable a person to accurately communicate ideas to building inspectors for proper permits and/or contractors for home repairs or remodeling projects.

    Advanced Woodworking

The student will learn about basic woodworking processes and joints.  The student will learn how wood changes and how the expansion/contraction of wood movement must be planned for.
