HOMEWORK?

Homework is not usually specifically assigned. Homework usually consists of daily work not completed by the student. Some children naturally work more slowly than other children do and the incomplete work will need to be finished at home. Homework will be put in the red homework folder at the end of the day. It is the student's responsibility, along with the teacher, to make certain the work gets in the folder. It is the parent's responsibility, along with the student, to make certain the homework is completed and put back in the red homework folder. Homework is to be turned in the first thing the very next morning. Learning is a building block process and if one part of the material is not understood it can affect the understanding of the rest of the material. Therefore, if homework is not turned in as expected, the student will be required to stay after school and finish the incomplete work. A phone call will be made to parents to make certain someone will be able to pick up the student.

As a parent myself, I understand that there may be an occasional night when the student just may not be able to complete the homework due to some major conflict. If the parent writes a note, explaining that the work was not completed but will be completed by the next day, the student will not be held after school. Please try not to let this happen too often because the student will get behind, making school more difficult for him or her.

Sickness/Absence from school: Please try not to take your child out for prolonged periods of time. There are some very important things your child misses while being absent. If your child is absent due to illness, homework and books may be sent home with one of your other children or a close neighbor. (Please call school to make certain the homework is sent home.) Please make certain that this homework comes back to school within a three-day period.
