Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to East Dubuque Elementary School!

For many of you, this will be your first child to enter school, while others are well acquainted with our kindergarten program.  Numerous parents ask how they can help their child have a successful school experience.  My goal is to help your child become as independent as possible.  This becomes especially important when they become part of a larger class.

On this website you will find helpful information and ideas to foster an impressionable foundation for your child as they begin their schooling.
My mission as your child's teacher is to enable my students to become life-long learners and live with good character.  I will guide them in learning the fundamentals of reading, writing, and math as well as other content areas.  I will encourage creative thinking and provide meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences.  I will assist my students in demonstrating appropriate social skills.  I will raise my student's self-esteem and beliefs in themselves to succeed in whatever they set their minds to.  I will support my students in all their endeavors and encourage them to take safe risks to meet their highest potential.

I appreciate your willingness to support your child and my efforts as we prepare for an exciting year at East Dubuque Elementary School.  Click on kindergarten handbook for ideas how to support your child this year.

I look forward to an exciting and rewarding kindergarten year with your child!  Please take an interest in your child's kindergarten experience, when we all work together everyone benefits.  I will be keeping in touch on a frequent basis throughout the year, as I believe an open partnership between the parents and teacher ensures student success.  Please feel free to contact me at school 815 747-3117 ext. 3010 or kmiller.edschools@yahoo.com if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Miller

Each day I'll do my best,
And I won't do any less.

My work will always please me,
And I won't accept a mess.

I'll color very carefully,
My writing will be neat.

And  I simply won't be happy
"Til  my papers are complete.

I'll always do my homework,
And  I'll try on every test.

And  I won't forget my promise--
To do my very best!
