Warrior Chorale
The Warrior Chorale is the high school choir.
Students are required to perform two formal concerts a year, which are graded,
plus a Christmas concert at the
Kennedy Mall. They also have the opportunity to participate in two festivals and one contest.
IHSA Solo and Ensemble Contest
Solo and Ensemble contest is an individual and small group event.
Students are selected by the director to participate based on
their ability,
work ethic and talent. All students are encouraged to perform a
solo. Ensembles require more work because students
must learn their own
part and then be able to sing it with one or more other parts-at the same time
NUIC Northern Upstate Illini Conference Music Festival
This festival is comprised of all the top music students in our
Conference. Students rehearse all day at the host school and then
perform
a concert at 7:00PM. Students participating in this must be selected by the
director. In order to be chosen as a
representative of our school,
students must be able to match pitch, have good rhythm skills and have
proficient tonal recall.
They must also be reliable, well behaved and maintain a
good work ethic.
IMEA District Music Festival
Being Selected to participate in this festival is one of the highest music
honors in the state. Students chosen to participate are selected
by
passing a rigorous audition. Those passing the audition perform at the
music festival held in November at Northern Illinois University
in
DeKalb. Top students from this festival will have the opportunity to
audition to sing the National Anthem at the State Basketball
Tournament. The top students from all the districts in Illinois meet in Peoria
for a three day All-State Music Festival.
National Anthem Singers
The National Anthem singers perform at any Basketball or Volleyball game
that the band does
not play at.
Students can sing a solo, or perform with other NA singers.
Groups may sing the unison or in 2or 3 part music.
Anyone wishing to sing the Star Spangled Banner at a
sporting event will need to audition with the Vocal director.
